The new addition and renovation of the Heath School has finally been completed, Nauset Construction announced this week. The project, with a price tag of $6.5 million, was designed by Boston architects Miller Dyer Spears Inc., a firm that has worked with such acclaimed academic institutions as Harvard and Brandeis. Five new classrooms, a science lab, and a multi-purpose room round out the addition to the K-8 facility, located in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Brookline. And the renovations replaced and expanded the school’s kitchen and dining space, as well as the library. In line with the American Disabilities Act, the Heath School upgraded its auditorium as well.

Even better, the project was completed on time and within budget, despite the Heath School being fully operational throughout the reconstruction. “Finishing a project with minimal change orders on an occupied school campus really speaks volumes about the teamwork and cooperation of everyone involved,” said Nauset Project Executive Rob Nunez. “We had a great relationship with the owner’s rep and the architect, and the teachers were very supportive of the project, but keeping the kids safe was always the number one priority.”
